Transfer Graduate Students
When should I Apply?
As it may take some time to receive all of the documents needed to complete your application, the timing of the submission your application is critical. In short, apply as early as possible to ensure a smooth application process. Although U.I.W will accept applications to the School of Graduate studies up to the start of classes, the following deadlines are recommended:Recommended Application Deadlines:
| Term | Date |
| Fall I & II | July 1 |
| Spring I & II | November 1 |
| Summer | March 1 |
What do I need to submit for Admission?
An application is considered ready for decision when it contains the following:
- Completed Application for Graduate Admission
- $20.00 Application Fee (non-refundable)
- Official Transcript(s) from every college/university attended, reflecting all undergraduate (and graduate if applicable) work completed, including notice of achievement of bachelor's degree
- Official Score Report from the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), Miller Analogies Test (MAT), or the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). The GMAT is required of applicants to the MBA Program. Most other programs require either the GRE or MAT. Students who have not yet taken the required exam or won't have scores by the start of classes must apply as non-degree seeking in the interim. Once test scores are received, application may be made to achieve degree-seeking status.
How many of my credits are transferable?
Students who have completed graduate coursework at another regionally accredited institution may transfer a maximum of twelve (12) semester hours toward their U.I.W. degree. Transferred units must be from courses which are equivalent to those required in the program, or are closely related so as to transfer as elective units. Typically, credit which is more than six (6) years old may not be used toward a degree.
