Kari Chapman has always been a team player as well as a fierce competitor. As a sophomore, Chapman was chosen to be team captain for the UIW volleyball team. As captain, she led them to vigorously compete against other teams. To reward her efforts as a team leader she was named 2007 Student Athlete of the year. In 2007, Chapman returned to UIW to help increase awareness and attendance at homecoming. As chair of the Alumni Board's homecoming committee she has built a strong team to assist her in this effort.
Chapman serves as Finance Manager for San Antonio Sports, formerly known as the San Antonio Sports Foundation. Chapman has worked on many events including the 2008 Men's Final Four and the 2010 Women's Final Four. She sees her work as a vital service to the community, helping to grow the commitment of wellness and physical activity across San Antonio. One of her favorite service opportunities is All Can Ski where disabled children come to learn how to ski at Sea World over a three day period.
As current chair of UIW Homecoming, she is happy to see the growth at Incarnate Word and enjoys bringing alumni back to campus. She has been instrumental in bringing various UIW alumni together and looks forward to bringing back the alumni volleyball game sometime in the near future. Her advice for current students is to work hard and make sure to secure an internship while in college.
