The dream is a reality. UIW announced its plans for a Division II scholarship football program in February of 2007, and shortly thereafter construction began on the Gayle and Tom Benson Stadium. Work ran through August of 2008 and on September 1 the stadium opened for action by the Cardinals who will play their first game in 2009.
