Welcome to the home of the University of the Incarnate Word Athletics. This site contains information about all sports offered at the university as well as information about the coaches, the staff, the UIW Athletic Hall of Fame, camps, facilities and links of interest to sports fans.
With the recent announcements of football and men's swimming, the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio offers nine men's and 10 women's sports. The Cardinals are members of the NCAA Division II. Incarnate Word also competes as a charter member of the Heartland Conference. All UIW teams are eligible for post-season competition in Division II, some through conference championships and others with an at-large berth.

UIW REMAINS UNBEATEN IN HEARTLAND For the second straight day Incarnate Word’s volleyball Cardinals had to go five sets to gain a win in Heartland Conference action. And if you ask any of the Cardinals players, or coaches, it was well worth the effort as UIW has emerged with some space in league play.

CARDINALS REMAIN ON TOP OF HEARTLAND It was the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end Friday night for Incarnate Word as the Cardinals got out of the McDermott Center with a five-set win over Heartland Conference contender Texas / Permian Basin.

UIW WOMEN COME BACK LATE TO BEAT ST. MARY'S, 2-1 After falling behind to the Rattlers, 1-0, Incarnate Word fought through some adversity and was able to use two set pieces to up their record to 9-1.

CARDINALS GET TOPPED BY ST. EDWARD'S, 1-0 A back and forth battle between two Top 25 teams ended in a 1-0 score and the UIW men on a two-game losing skid.
