Health and Safety are paramount to the University of the Incarnate Word and the Sports and Wellness department. Taking steps to minimize the risk of COVID-19 infections (or any other spread of disease) at UIW and in our community is a shared responsibility and a critical part of caring for all who live, work and learn with us.

In order to protect the UIW Community, the Sports and Wellness department will be utilizing a three-tier disinfecting system for all of its facilities.

3-Tier Disinfecting System

Tier 1

Patron responsibility: Before and after each use of UIW equipment, patrons will wipe down the equipment with provided disinfecting supplies. This is an unchanged procedure from previous years and a critical responsibility in disease control. Patrons are also responsible for disinfecting all personal equipment and gear before and after each use.

Tier 2

Sports and Wellness responsibilities: The Fencing Center will close after the conclusion of each session; staff will perform disinfecting measures utilizing a handheld misting system to ensure adequate coverage.

Tier 3

Sports and Wellness responsibilities: At the conclusion of the final available work out session staff will perform deep disinfecting procedures utilizing a disinfecting fogging system, designed for maximum penetration and disinfection.

It takes a communal effort to maintain the health and safety of the Henrich Center for Fencing and International Sports, please ensure that you are doing your part to protect your fellow cardinal.
