First Year Engagement Team

Dr. Zendejas and Mrs. Ramirez, along with the Peer Mentors, are here to support students through their first year at UIW.

Dr. Zendejas regularly advises first-year students in addition to overseeing the overall FYE and Career Services programs. He has been a part of the First Year Engagement program since its conception in 2005. Dr. Zendejas also oversees UIW's Emerging Leaders Program.

Before joining the First Year Engagement and Career Services Team, Dr. Zendejas served at Northwest Vista College as an Adjunct Instructor and Student Success Specialist. Dr. Zendejas has a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership and his focus is educating first-generation students with a concentration in motivational qualities of Mexican-American men who achieved their Ph D.

Mrs. Ramirez coordinates the Peer Mentor program and serves as an advisor to first-year students. She has been a part of the UIW First Year Engagement program since its conception in 2005.

Mrs. Ramirez received her Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Psychology and Master of Arts in Administration with a concentration in Organizational Development from the University of the Incarnate Word.
