The Honors Program at the University of the Incarnate Word adds a level of intellectual inquiry to stimulate curious minds. It provides a challenging curriculum and insightful programs, woven together with the concept of social justice. Included are co-curricular programs in various cultural and academic fields, leadership development,plus networking and service learning opportunities in and out of the classroom.

Priority Registration
Our priority registration grouping means that Honors Students register for their classes the day before other students, making their chances near 100% for obtaining their ideal schedule.

Honors Students may enjoy our new Living and Learning Community (LLC) to form a residential cohort where they attend classes together, live together, and grow together.
Scholarships
Additional scholarship opportunities from the Honors Program are available to all currently enrolled Honors Students. Applications for scholarships will be released to students internally throughout the academic year.
UIW Honors Program Study Abroad Scholarship
The Honors Program offers this scholarship to encourage students to gain experience in another culture. The amount of the award will vary according to the number of recipients each year and the type of international experience involved. Semester-long programs will be eligible for a larger scholarship amount than a faculty-led trip.
Kara Ashley Caldwell Honors Program Memorial Scholarship
The University of the Incarnate Word Honors Program will recognize one student to receive a $1,000 scholarship to honor Program Alumna, Kara Ashley Caldwell, and her dedication to education and service to the community.
Carlos and Malú Alvarez Endowed Student Scholarship
Alvarez Student Scholars will apply their award to activities and offerings which enhance their educational experience and open doors to post-graduate opportunities. Examples include but are not limited to: study abroad, career mentoring seminars and guidance, financial literacy education, financial support for summer internships and/or faculty sponsored research, presentations at conferences/meetings, professional internships, service-learning, and preparation for graduation/professional school including guidance in applying for prestigious fellowships and scholarships.
10 Students are eligible to represent the Alvarez Scholar Cohort per application cycle. Students will receive awards of up to $4,000 per year, for up to four years as a supplement to regular merit and need-based financial aid.
Performance Passport
In addition, each student has $25 available each semester enrolled in the Honors Program to spend on admission fees approved in advance by the director for students to complete program requirements such as the Bucket List or Point Plan.
