“Energetic” is one word to describe our honors students. They are busy all over campus and in the community. They represent majors as diverse as their personalities and backgrounds. Most students are from the state of Texas but many are from different states in the U.S. and from other countries. Yet every year this diverse group of people gets to know each other very well, developing a tight-knit community of scholars.
Many of our students are Resident Assistants for campus housing, athletes, officers and members of student organizations, participate in study abroad, and volunteer at favorite organizations.
We are also proud of students who have successfully applied to prestigious academic programs to enhance their education. For example, our students have been fellows in summer research programs at the National Institutes for Health, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and other universities. They are Kemper Scholarship award winners and have been selected for early admission programs such as the Boston University Medical School and JAMP, for Texas medical schools. In fact, one of our students, Jennifer Vuong, is representing the JAMP program at its website with some wise words.
