The degree of discipline imposed for a particular offense may vary; from verbal warning, to a written
warning/reprimand, to disciplinary probation, to involuntary demotion, suspension, or discharge,
depending upon the severity of the particular offense. The appropriate level of discipline to be applied by a supervisor is a management decision determined in consultation with the Director of Human Resources

It is important managers fairly and thoroughly investigate the details of each case prior to imposing discipline and consult with the Office of Human Resources if considering a write-up, suspension or discharge (see Section 11 in the Employee Handbook for additional information).
