UIW International Education Week

Join the Celebration This November 12 - 16, 2018

A worldwide Celebration of International Education and exchange through food, culture, music, art and educational events. Over 15 events on UIW campus.

UIW is proud to participate in International Education Week. Student Organizations, Colleges and Departments are invited to host events related to international education and cultural exchange. International Education Week is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education promotes programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to the U.S. to study, learn, and exchange experiences.

Monday, November 12

IEW World Flag Parade  -  10:30a- 11a @ West Gate Circle

Enjoy the first annual UIW International Flag Parade around campus and ending at West Gate Circle.   Starting at 11 enjoy a IEW Welcome speech, refreshments, henna, international music, a Bollywood performance and take photos around the world with 'Around the World" green screen. IEW Kick Off -  11a-11:30a @ West Gate Circle

“Disasterworks” - an exhibit by E. C. Kanko - 10a-5p @ UIW Semmes Gallery

Exhibit on display: Fri., Oct. 12 – Fri. Nov. 16, 2018, Monday through Friday, 10a -5p. E. C. Kanko is a local artist and UIW alumni. After obtaining her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2010, her artwork branched out into many styles and mediums, including digital painting. Inspired by nature, current events, and social trends, she began an eight-year project that would become “Disasterworks.” In this series of artworks, E. C. Kanko creates parodies of well known international and American masterpieces to make effective before-and-after imagery without using an actual side-by-side comparison. Come learn more about Moroccan & Egyptian culture while drinking our tea of the week! A Sister's of Charity of the Incarnate Word tradition as far back as 1867. Int'l Student Travel Signature Day - 1:30p - 2:30p @ SEC Concourse

Are you an F-1 or J-1 student traveling back home for Thanksgiving holiday or Winter Break?  Usually travel endorsements take 2-3 weeks to process.  Get same day service on all travel endorsement during Travel Signature Day.  Students must clear all business office and registrar holds, have their most recent I-20 or DS-2019, passport, visa and space for a valid travel endorsement to qualify.  Hosted by International Student & Scholar Services.  Part of UIW Int'l Education Week for info, contact intl@uiwtx.edu.

Receive 1 hour of community service for representing your culture with UIW

 

International Bazaar -  Sell Gifts and Vendors from around the world one Monday or Tuesday. Vendors can sell items and promote items and other unique gifts as desired.  Tables and chairs will be provided. Parking permit will be provided for off campus vendors. Sign up here: International Bazaar
