Master of Biomedical Sciences Degree

How to Apply

The application cycle for the 2018-19 cohort opens on November 1, 2017
and will remain open until filled.

 

Welcome and thank you for your interest in the UIWSOM Master of Biomedical Sciences. If you have any questions in the application process or would like to schedule an appointment, please contact the Master of Biomedical Sciences Program at mbsprogram@uiwtx.edu or call (210) 283-6976.    

For an applicant to receive full consideration, the following items must be submitted:

1. Online Program Applications

The UIWSOM Master of Biomedical Sciences Program requires candidates to complete a Graduate Admissions application and a MBS Supplemental Program application. Submit both applications online. Applicants are only required to pay a $50 non-refundable fee for the Supplemental Application. 

Please note applicants are not required to pay the $20 graduate school application fee.  For more information and instructions on waiving the fee, click here.

2. Official Transcript(s)

Applicants are required to send a transcript from each institution attended. This includes all undergraduate, graduate, and any health care professions education. Hard copies must be received in a sealed envelope with a signature across the closure to be considered official. Only one transcript per institution should be submitted. Applicants with outstanding prerequisites should have an updated transcript sent after the completion of coursework. Hard copy transcripts should be mailed to:

3. Letters of Reference

The UIWSOM Master of Biomedical Sciences Program requires applicants to submit three letters of reference from someone to attest to the student's capacity for graduate level work. Letters of reference should be submitted on the recommender’s letterhead. Letters must be received in a sealed envelope with a signature across the closure to be considered official. Hard copy letters should be mailed to:

4. Graduate Record Exam (GRE) and/or MCAT

(*other pre-professional exam as appropriate)

The UIWSOM Master of Biomedical Sciences Program requires students to submit test scores for the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) or Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) for consideration for admission. Scores should be submitted as follows:

GRE - request scores be sent directly to the UIW Office of Admissions using code 6303.

MCAT - scores should be printed and mailed directly to the UIW MBS program to the address indicated below.  The UIW MBS program will then verify the scores via the weblink using the verification code provided on the report.  Use the following link to access instructions and more information on this process:  (Mailing Official MCAT Score Report)

*Other pre-professional exams - request scores be mailed directly to the UIW MBS Program.
