Welcome To The Rosenberg School of Optometry at UIW
Your future in Optometry begins here!
We appreciate the opportunity to share with you the vision, goals and outstanding facilities of the Rosenberg School of Optometry at the University of the Incarnate Word. We hope your visit to our website will be informative and productive. Now that you are thinking about one of the great professions of the healing arts, we know you will also appreciate one of the great schools to prepare you for your future.
The Rosenberg School of Optometry prides itself in the fact that it plays host for one of the most diverse groups of optometry students in the world. Our students come from many different backgrounds, providing a firm foundation to build lasting personal and professional relationships.
The Rosenberg School of Optometry offers outstanding professional preparation. Our strong curriculum covers all aspects of Optometry. The outstanding faculty is renowned for their expertise in the many varied areas of Optometric patient care. You will be challenged to master optics, vision science, the diagnosis and management of ocular disease, and the care of patients who present to you with complex medical conditions while always remembering that you are caring for the whole person.
The first two years of your education in visual and clinical science enable you to complete your health care expertise in two modern, cutting edge eye institutes operated by the University of the Incarnate Word for the education of its interns. The Datapoint Clinical Facility and the Bowden Eyecare and Health Center expose our students to an arena where the most modern visual technologies are employed by the best of clinical faculty. These main examination arenas are supplemented by the San Antonio Lighthouse for the Blind, community clinics, and an outstanding Externship Program.
These professional learning experiences are evident when you view our mission statement. Equally important in the mission statement is the great emphasis that the Rosenberg School of Optometry places on the personal growth of the Optometric student as they progress from applicant to alumnus. The Optometric Intern is continually afforded the opportunity to pursue a path of personal growth and development. You will graduate not only with the professional competencies gleaned from a demanding curriculum, but you will also embrace the tenets of human dignity and social justice which distinguish you as a complete Health Care Provider.
We welcome your visit to our campus and look forward to a continued dialogue regarding your future optometric education.
