In 2008 Kevin Lord joined the faculty at the Feik School of Pharmacy as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences after successful defense of his dissertation, “New insights into mechanisms mediating methamphetamine-induced cardiac dysfunction”. Dr. Lord graduated with a B.S. degree in Cardiopulmonary Science from Louisiana State University Health Science Center in New Orleans, LA in 1995. He was employed as the educational coordinator for the Medical Center of New Orleans until 2000 at which time he completed his Master in Health Science with an emphasis in clinical physiology and accepted a faculty position in the Department of Cardiopulmonary Science, LSUHSC. During his tenure at LSUHSC he was promoted to Director of Clinical Education in the Department of Cardiopulmonary Science and managed the Cardiovascular Core Facility in the Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics supported by a grant from the Center of Biological Research Excellence (COBRE).
Dr. Lord’s maintains his research focus in cardiac and cardiovascular disease with collaborations at the Feik School of Pharmacy as well as with The Ohio State University Nationwide Children’s Hospital and LSUHSC in New Orleans. Currently funded projects include antiplatelet responsiveness in diabetic patients of different ethnicities, cardiovascular risk of patients exposed to fine particulate matter (combustion engine exhaust) and cardiac functional deficits following mitral /tricuspid valve repair in heart failure patients.
Dr. Lord is a member of several professional organizations that include the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, American Association for the Advancement of Science, Alpha Eta Honor Society and American Association for Respiratory Care.
