Below is a list of scholarships available to students of pharmacy. This is not an exhaustive list, but is provided as a starting point for your search.

ACLS Training Association Scholarship Program:

This scholarship program is open to all college students who are currently enrolled in any medical education program. They simply have to submit an essay outlining a past experience with lifesaving techniques or how to use these techniques in a future lifesaving situation. ACLSMedicaltraining.com scholarship:

The annual scholarship award of $1000 is awarded to a student enrolled in a nursing, dental, medicine or pharmacy program. Each student will submit a 500-1000 word essay on a selected topic regarding life support. Essay topics and scholarship details can be found at: http://www.aclsmedicaltraining.com/scholarship/

Adolph Van Pelt Scholarship:

This scholarship is open to undergraduate and graduate students of Native American heritage (25%). It is based on financial need and merit. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years. Agnes Jones Jackson Scholarship:

Students who have been active members of the NAACP for at least one year and have participated in NAACP youth council activities are eligible for this scholarship. Applicants must be US citizens, and have a minimum 2.5 GPA (graduate students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA). Applicants must be under 25 as of the deadline date. American College of Legal Medicine Student Writing Competition:

ACLM offers a $1000 award in the following categories, for the best paper received on topics of Legal Medicine. The Schwartz Award is for students majoring in medicine. The Hirsh award is for students in Dentistry, Nursing, Pharmacy, Health Care Administration or Public Health Student. Applications are available at www.aclm.org

American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education:

Several scholarships are available from the Foundation for pharmacy students beginning their first graduate year and are seeking doctorates in pharmacy.

Scholarship Award Amount: $5,000-$7,000

Eligibility: Applicants must be U.S. citizens or legal residents. Some of the scholarships require membership in professional organizations.

Bureau of Indian Education Higher Education Grant Program Scholarship:

BIA offers financial assistance to members of American Indian tribes ranging from $300 to $5000.

Applicants must have at least one-quarter Indian blood and have financial need. Applications are available at: http://bie.edu/ParentsStudents/Grants/index.htm

Byron Riesch Scholarship:

The Byron Riesch Paralysis Foundation offers scholarships from $1000 t0 $2000 to undergraduate/graduate students who have a neurological disability or the children of people with such a disability. Applications are available at: http://www.brpf.org/Grants/ApplicationScholarships.html

J.C. and Rheba Cobb Memorial Scholarship:

This scholarship provides financial assistance for full-time education in pharmacy to student members of the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA).

Eraser Clinic Scholarship:

This company offers a scholarship of $1000 for students enrolled in nursing, medicine, natural sciences, applied sciences, engineering, or a related field. Applicants should have a 3.0 GPA and be a US citizen. Applicants will complete a scholarship essay and submit their college transcript. Hispanic Scholarship Fund:

Founded in 1975, the Hispanic Scholarship Fund ( HSF) was designed to assist Hispanic American students complete their college education. Scholarships ranging from $1000 to $3,000 are made on a competitive basis to two-year and four-year college students and graduate students of Hispanic heritage.  Eligibility criteria include: be of Hispanic heritage, US citizen or legal permanent resident, cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, enrolled in an accredited college/university as a full time student. Selection is based on academic achievement, financial need, letters of recommendation and personal statement. Applications are available online at: www.hsf.net

Kosciuszko Foundation Scholarships:

The Foundation offers tuition scholarships ranging from $1000 to $7000 for students of Polish descent. Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA. Applications are available at: www.thekf.org

Margaret McNamara Memorial Fund:

Women who are citizens of a developing country who plan to return home following their studies may be eligible for scholarships from the Margaret McNamara Memorial Fund. Applicants must be 25 years old by the end of the calendar year, and have a record of service to women and children in her country. Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation Academic Year Scholarships:

The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation has scholarships ranging from $500 to $10,000.

Application qualification criteria include:

• Son or daughter of a Marine on active duty, reserves, retired or deceased

• Son or daughter of a Marine or Marine Reservist who has received an Honorable Discharge, Medical Discharge, or who was killed while in the service of our country,

• Son or daughter of an active duty, reserve, or former US Navy Corpsman who is serving or has served with the US Marine Corps

• Currently enrolled as an undergraduate in an accredited college or university.

• Your family income is $90,000 or less.

National Community Pharmacist Association (NCPA) Foundation:

The scholarship is for student members of NCPA who are full-time pharmacy students at an accredited U.S. school of pharmacy. The award is issued to students demonstrating academic achievement and leadership qualities.  Scholarship Award Amount: Up to $2000

Field(s) of Study: Health and Medical Sciences

Eligibility: The applicant must be enrolled full-time at a U.S. school or college of

pharmacy. The candidate must also have a 2.5 GPA or higher. The award is restricted to U.S. citizens.

National Italian American Foundation Scholarships:

The NIAF offers scholarships and grants to outstanding students. Awards are based on academic merit for Italian-American students who demonstrate potential and high academic achievements. The areas of study are open. Scholarship awards range from $2,000 to $12,000 and it can be used to cover tuition only. Applications are available on-line at: http://www.niaf.org/scholarships. Eligibility criteria include: enrollment at an accredited institution during Fall 2011, minimum GPA of 3.5, US citizen, must have at least one ancestor who immigrated from Italy.

Naval Research Enterprise Internship Program:

NREIP offers competitive internships to approximately 200 students each year. Students spend 10 weeks interning at one of 19 Dept of Navy laboratories. Single Parent Scholarship:

Druglawsuitsource.com offers two single parent scholarships in the amount of $1000 each. Eligibility criteria include being a single parent raising at least one child, GPA of 2.7 or higher, Students will write an essay explaining career goals and challenges of being a single parent in school. Gen and Kelly Tanabe Scholarship:

Merit based scholarships up to $1000 are available to assist with tuition, books and room and board expenses. Students must be enrolled in college or graduate school, be a legal resident of the U.S. Applicants will write an essay on a topic of their choice, academic and career goals or the reasons on why they deserve the scholarship. Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc. Scholarship:

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. offers two $10,000 scholarships and four $5,000 scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students majoring in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or other life-science related field.  Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA and be a US citizen or possess appropriate VISA status. Tylenol Future Care Scholarship:

The Tylenol Future Care Scholarship awards 30 scholarships of $5,000 each and 10 scholarships of $10,000 each. Applicants must be residents of the 50 United States, Puerto Rico, or the District of Columbia; they must have completed at least one year of undergraduate or graduate course of study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or technical school; and must have one or more years of school remaining. Employees of McNeil Consumer Healthcare Division of McNEIL-PPC, Inc., ISTS, Inc., their affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies and the families of each are not eligible. An independent selection committee will evaluate the applications and select the winners based on the following criteria: college GPA; academic records in public health/health education, med school, nursing and/or pharmacy; community involvement/volunteer service; and the content of the applicant’s essay.

United Hospice Foundation Scholarship:

The United Hospice Foundation offers 3 $1000 scholarships to nursing, pharmacy and rehab students (PT, OT, CSD)  who are residents from the state of Georgia and who have an interest in working in an end-of-life healthcare field upon graduation (hospice, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, etc.). U.S. Pharmacopoeia (USP Fellowship Program):

These doctoral and postdoctoral fellowships are for students to conduct research projects at health professions schools where USP subcommittee persons are on faculty/affiliated. Pharmacy, medical, nursing, dental, and other health care students are encouraged to apply.

Scholarship Award Amount: $20,000

Field(s) of Study: Drug Standards; Drug Information Studies

Eligibility: Applicants must have been accepted for full-time study in a Ph.D. or Pharm.D. program, medical or dental school, or have a postdoctoral research (non-faculty) appointment. Financial need is NOT a factor. 6 fellowships are awarded annually.

Veterans United Foundation Scholarship:

The Foundation offers scholarships to students who are surviving spouse or child of a fallen active duty service member or fallen veteran of the Armed Forces of the United States. Applications are available at: http://www.enhancelives.com/scholarships
