Entry-Level DPT Admissions

The University of the Incarnate Word School of Physical Therapy Admissions Committee reviews applicants holistically taking into consideration academic history, leadership qualities and service to the community among other things.  Those considered most competitive will be invited to an on-campus interview.

Applications for Fall 2017 will be accepted from July 1, 2016 to January 16, 2017 through the Physical Therapist Centralized Application Service (PTCAS).

Priority Application date: October 1st, 2016

Qualified applicants with completed applications will be considered for Interview.

Admissions Checklist

PTCAS Application


Official College Transcripts

Submit all official college transcripts to PTCAS.

* The average GPA for the last three (3) cohorts admitted was 3.3 with an average Science GPA of 3.0.

Official GRE Test Scores

Submit official test scores to PTCAS using GRE Code 0341.  Scores sent directly to UIW or entered in PTCAS by applicant will not be reviewed. 

* GRE score of 150 for each component (quantitative and verbal) is strongly recommended. The Verbal GRE score is a strong predictor of success in the program.

Letters of Reference

Submit three letters of reference to PTCAS. 
At least one letter must be from a licensed Physical Therapist.

Observation Hours

Minimum of 100 verified observation hours in at least two different physical therapy settings which focus on different physical therapy specialties (ex. neuromuscular, orthopedic, pediatric, geriatric, sports, etc.)

Pay online through PTCAS.
