Debra Del Toro, Director of Communications and Marketing
Debra Del Toro has been in the communications industry for over 20 years. Her strengths
include media relations, crisis communications, strategic planning, event planning
and promotions. Prior to joining UIW in 2004, Debra worked with the San Antonio Stock
Show and Rodeo, St. Mary's University and as a freelance PR consultant to the City
of San Antonio's Alamodome. She has been involved with numerous special events including
the Rodeo, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus, and Disney on Ice. Debra graduated
from St. Mary's University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English/Communication

Margaret Garcia, Associate Director of Communications and Marketing
Margaret Garcia serves the University of the Incarnate Word as Associate Director
of Communications and Marketing. She has extensive experience in the communications
industry including work with a local advertising and public relations agency, the
Edwards Aquifer Authority, FOX TV Houston and KMOL (now WOAI TV) in San Antonio.
Margaret is the liaison between the university and its two Brainpower Connection high schools, Incarnate Word High School (IWHS) and St. Anthony Catholic High School (SACHS). Her responsibilities include media relations for UIW, SACHS and IWHS. She holds a Bachelor of Journalism from The University of Texas at Austin.

Summer Chandler, Marketing and Advertising Coordinator
Summer Chandler serves the University of the Incarnate Word as the Marketing & Advertising
Coordinator. In addition to maintaining the university's current advertising efforts,
Summer also pursues new advertising avenues, coordinates the university's advertising
schedules and media contracts, and provides support to UIW's Mexico City campus, Incarnate
Word High School and St. Anthony Catholic High School.
Summer began her career in advertising and marketing as an advertising account executive in the newspaper industry. She also worked as the Marketing Coordinator for the Texas Tech Alumni Association. Summer holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Texas Tech University.

Brance Arnold, Publications Coordinator
Brance Arnold serves as Publications Coordinator for the University of the Incarnate
Word. He is responsible for coordinating The Word Magazine, the university's alumni
publication. His duties also extend to the production of the university style guide
and media guide. He edits various materials and publications for UIW and the high schools
of the Brainpower Connection.
He holds experience in marketing, event coordination and sales including positions with Engine Components Inc., The Scooter Store, Jim Keim Ford, Interstate Adjusters Inc., and an internship for the San Antonio Museum of Art. In addition, he is a musician and songwriter as part of a local duo, Chacho & Brance. Brance holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Communications from St. Mary's University and a Masters of Arts in Communications from the University of Incarnate Word.

Carl Myers, Social Media/Communications Specialist
Carl Myers serves as the university’s Social Media/Communications Specialist. His
duties at UIW include planning and implementing comprehensive social media strategies
to maintain the university’s brand. He also manages the daily employee newsletter
and various communication tools utilized by the department.
He most recently served as Marketing Copywriter and Social Media Specialist at Rainman Creative, a local advertising and marketing agency. He holds a Bachelor of Communication Studies from The University of Texas at San Antonio and a Master of Business Administration from Hope International University in Fullerton, CA.

Taylor Nurmi, Special Events Coordinator
Taylor Nurmi serves UIW as the Special Events Coordinator for the Office of Communications
and Marketing. She is responsible for planning and promoting the university's special
events and assists various departments in the strategic planning and implementation
of their activities. She is the lead coordinator for the annual holiday lighting celebration,
Light the Way.
Taylor is an alumna of Virginia Tech, where she earned a bachelor's degree in Marketing Management. She previously worked for Virginia Tech Applied Research Corporation where her duties included managing public relations and coordinating community outreach events.

Amanda Bennett, Secretary
Amanda Bennett serves as the Secretary to UIW's Office of Communications and Marketing.
She handles the daily operations of the office and manages the work study program.
She has extensive experience in staffing and recruiting and has managed busy offices
having previously served as Executive Administrative Assistant to the Office of the
Provost at Yale University. Amanda is a graduate of UIW's Theatre Arts Program where
she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree.
