Eligible juniors and seniors are offered an opportunity for dual enrollment at UIW Prep and the University of the Incarnate Word by way of UIW Online.
Full-time UIW Prep students may take up to six (6) dual credit classes academic year for a total of 18 semester hours. This option gives graduating seniors up to 36 semester hours to apply to a university program while completing all high school graduation requirements. Students can complete nearly their first two years in college while in high school. Part-time students may take up to four (4) dual credit classes each academic year for a total of 12 semester hours.
All dual credit courses are taught by UIW faculty online and will count as high school and college credit simultaneously. The college credit will be issued by the University of the Incarnate Word, a 4-year, regionally accredited institution. There are offerings in Math, English, Social Studies and Religious Studies.
To be eligible, juniors and seniors must meet the following requirements:
- Students must have an overall 90 grade point average or higher
- Students must have a recommendation from their academic counselor
- All financial obligations must be current
Dual Credit course offerings for Spring II (March 6 to April 28, 2017) are listed below. The registration deadline is Monday, February 27, 2017. Students can now submit an online application for admission.
There is a one-time records fee of $40 for all new students. If a student has previously completed a dual credit course with UIW Prep, he/she is not requred to pay this fee again. The base tuition for the course is still $450.
