    Biography:  


    Prior to joining the faculty at UIW, Dora Fitzgerald was a producer and executive producer for 10 years at a small television station. Her professional interests center on visual media. Her personal interests center on the arts, and she is an avid student of film, especially how culture represents itself on screen, past and present, and particularly the representation of minority groups.

    Biography
:

    Valerie Greenberg has taught at the University of the Incarnate Word for more than 20 years. Prior to joining the faculty at UIW, she worked in the media industry, where she did production for ABC, CBS, Disney, and Touchstone Pictures. Dr. Greenberg has presented papers at national and international conferences including the: International Conference on Computers in Education (ICCE) Japan; International Association for Digital Information Society (IADIS) Portugal; 
 World Conference on E―Learning in Corporate, Government, Healthcare, and Higher Education (AACE) Montreal and Phoenix; International Association for Learning and Technology (IWALT) New Zealand.

    Biography
:

    Dr. Guinn’s teaching, research, and professional work is focused primarily on communication effectiveness and human relationships. He is an active member of and frequently presents at meetings for the National Communication Association (NCA) and International Association for Relationship Research (IARR). His work has been published in Communication Research, Health Communication, Patient Education and Counseling, and The Routledge Handbook of Family Communication. His most recent work is currently under review in Personal Relationships, Communication Monographs, and Journal of Applied Communication.

    Biography:

    Prior to joining the faculty at UIW, Hsin-I taught at University of Iowa (Iowa City) and Open University of Hong Kong. His research interests include: critical social theory, cultural studies of media and philosophy of communication. Hsin-I has made paper presentations in the following national and international associations and conferences: International Association for Aesthetics (IAA), International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR), International Communication Association (ICA), National Communication Association (NCA), and World Congress of Philosophy (WCP).

      Biography
:

      Mr. McDonnell has taught at the University since 1999.  He became a full-time professor in 2002.  He serves as Coordinator of the Communication Arts program and is the faculty advisor for kuiw.org the Internet Radio station and uiwtv.org, the Internet television station.  Mr. McDonnell has been a writer, producer, and director in the corporate and educational field for over 25 years. Along with winning multiple awards in video and multimedia, Mr. McDonnell served as a past president of several national communication organizations. His hobbies include comic book collecting 1960-1970’s, playing golf, restoring and driving 1967 Chevy El Camino and playing guitar.

      Biography
:

      A native of Jackson, Tennessee, began his professional career in 1974 with The Jackson Sun, a daily newspaper, and remained there until 1994, serving in a variety of roles during that tenure including reporter, copy editor, assistant news editor, assistant city editor, reader services editor and a columnist. Mr. Mercer has been married since Dec. 28, 1978, to the former Kathy Morris of Jackson, Tenn.. They have two daughters, Dione Michelle, and Wanita Nicole.

        Biography:

        As a native Yucatecan living in Texas, Zazil Reyes recognizes the importance of working across borders and cultures. Her research interests are broadly located at the intersection of Rhetoric, Media, Women’s and Gender Studies, Critical Race Studies, and Popular Culture. She is particularly interested in political cartoons, and works with texts from Mexico and the U.S. Her book chapter, “From Sexual Siren to Race Traitor: Condoleezza Rice in Political Cartoons” (2013), examines the role of race, gender, and sexuality in cartoons portraying the former Secretary of State. Her research has received several Top Paper awards at the National Communication Association (NCA) Convention.

        Before joining UIW professor Reyes taught Spanish at UT-Austin, and communication courses at Tec de Monterrey in Guadalajara, Mexico.

        Phil began programming in the late 1960s and has worked and played with computer technology ever since. Phil started a career in biochemical research in the mid-1970s at the University of Hawaii before becoming an officer in the U.S. Navy where he used and taught leading edge technologies of the day. Phil began his third career in higher education in 1998, co-founding an MIS program at one university, then serving as Academic Director for a branch campus of Texas Tech before founding the CIS degree program at UIW in 2003.
