The following information is intended to provide on-point details and live web-links specific to helping potential international exchange students from UIW sister school partners with the int'l exchange application process. Potential exchange students are strongly encouraged to visit with both their academic and administrative advisors before starting the int'l exchange application process in order to (a) make certain they are eligible to study at UIW for one (1) or two (2) semesters and (b) are academically qualified to study at UIW as an exchange student.

Student Exchange

UIW may accept up to two (2) undergraduate students during an academic year or one (1) undergraduate student for the entire academic year. An academic year is defined as the fall and spring semester.

Application Steps

  1. Official transcript from your current institution
  2. Official English proficiency test scores
  3. Official bank statement indicating at least $10,500 USD
  4. Submit $20 (USD) application fee here or in the form of a money order, check, or cash
  5. Copy of passport
  6. Proof of meningitis vaccine (if under 22 years of age)
  7. Immigration & Financial Requirements form
  8. Exchange Student Information Sheet

Please note: An admissions decision cannot be determined until all official documents have been received.

Compulsory Language for Exchange Students

Minimum test scores required for admission consideration:

  • TOEFL: 79 ibt
  • TOEIC: 650 and above

Note: Official TOEFL and TOEIC scores must be submitted by ETS (UIW institutional code 6303), copies will not be accepted.

  • IELTS: 6.5

Note: It is not necessary to send IELTS scores. 

  • Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE): C1 Level (Grade C)

 

 

Health, Safety, & Living at UIW

 

Health Insurance

All students are required to purchase international health insurance from UIW only.  Cost approximately $600.00 per semester. Other insurance will not be accepted

Proof of Meningitis Vaccine

All students (Domestic & International) must submit proof of a Meningitis Vaccine with their application if they are under the age of 22.

(Meningococcal vaccine for Groups A, C, Y and W-135).

Accommodation

The International Admissions Counselor will contact the student regarding University housing once the admissions application has been completed and accepted.

*Students must submit the $225.00 housing deposit to complete the housing application.

Cost of Living

(per semester)

For an exchange student it is estimated that one academic semester at UIW will cost around $10,500 (US Dollars/fall 2017 or spring 2018) for housing and other miscellaneous expenses. 

For student visa purposes, the student’s bank statement should reflect the appropriate amount.

Visa

Accepted exchange students will receive the form DS-2019 (Certificate of Eligibility) from UIW’s International Student & Scholar Services office.  An information packet will be mailed with this form including details on the next steps to take in applying for a student visa.

Pre-Registration:

 

Once admitted to UIW, all exchange students must submit 4 courses and 3 alternative courses.  Courses will be submitted to the Academic Advising Center for processing. Class enrollment is on a first come first serve basis.

UIW provides pick-up service from the airport upon arrival.

Requesting Transcripts & Release Dates

Exchange students must complete a Transcript Request Form BEFORE returning home: http://www.uiw.edu/registrar/transcriptrequest.html

Transcripts are mailed approximately two weeks after the end of each semester. Be sure to check with the Business Office & the Registrar’s Office to see if you have any holds.  Transcripts will not be released until all holds are removed.

 

Additional Information

 

  • Only applications submitted by the home university will be processed.
  • Exchange students must arrive on arrival dates and must attend orientation week.
  • Attendance to classes is mandatory at UIW and part of the final grade.
  • The UIW grading system is based on 4-point grading system:
