Director: Jon Gillespie
Associate Director: Armando Saliba
Admin. Assistant/Researcher: Terri Galvin
This office is responsible for cultivating donor relationships with corporations—local,
national and multinational—as well as philanthropic foundations and the federal government.
It continually conducts research to determine what opportunities for funding are available
from sources, and submits proposals and applications accordingly. The office is not
only reactive, assisting faculty, staff and administrators in developing and preparing
proposals, but it is also proactive, initiating projects and programs and writing
the proposals to seek funding for them.
The Office of Foundation, Corporate and Government Relations currently is pursuing
funding for a variety of projects and programs at Incarnate Word, including renovation
and expansion of the Science Hall, Communication Arts technology and scholarships,
and several international initiatives in Asia and Central and South America.

Director of Major Gifts and Planned Giving: Alex Castañeda
The Planned Giving Office helps donors make a gift to UIW both now and in the future
through various giving options that can bring immediate and deferred tax advantages
to the donor and his heirs while also having a meaningful impact on UIW. Typical planned
gifts include will bequests, charitable gift annuities, and life income gifts. The
Planned Giving Office has a wide variety of brochures on planned giving topics and
can assist the donor and advisers in determining the appropriateness of a gift.
Those individuals who make a planned gift to UIW become members of the prestigious
Verbum Society. “Verbum” is Latin for “Word,” and symbolic of the University’s continuing
mission of providing a quality education within the context of faith. The Verbum Society
is instrumental in providing educational opportunities for UIW students, faculty,
and the local community.
For more information on how to make a gift in perpetuity to UIW, the Verbum Society,
or your giving options, please visit the planned giving site.
