Chapter 33 Post-9/11 GI Bill

yellow ribbonUIW was more than willing to participate in the Yellow Ribbon program and offer this to our student veterans, but we are such a great and affordable opportunity that the 100 percent eligible UIW Ch 33 undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students, may attend UIW with all costs covered and extra paperwork is not necessary

 

 

Applicable to individuals:

This program will pay the eligible individuals:

  • Tuition & fees directly to the school not to exceed the maximum in-state tuition & fees at a public Institution of Higher Learning.
  • A monthly housing allowance, for the eligible students, based on the Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) for an E-5 with dependents at the location of the school. (UIW is located at zip code 78209)
  • An annual books & supplies stipend of $1,000 paid proportionately based on enrollment; individuals eligible at the 100 percent benefit level may receive $41.67 for each credit hour certified up to 24 credit hours each academic year.

Your next steps:

  1. Apply to the UIW program of your choice: Main Campus Admissions or the Extended Academic Programs Adult Degree Programs
  2. Apply for your choice of Veterans benefits
  3. Once accepted, ensure all required documentation has been sent to the UIW VA Coordinator:

    • Letter of Eligibility from VA
    • Military transcript(s)
    • Transcripts of other institutions previously attended
    • Copy of your DD214
    • VA Enrollment Certification Request Form (Download as Word or PDF)
  4. Chapter 30 Veterans may verify their monthly enrollment by either clicking on the WAVE link or by calling the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) System: 1-877-823-2378
