The University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine (UIWSOM) offers an innovative, one-year (36 credit) master's program designed to further the scientific knowledge of students who want to pursue a medical school program, a career in biomedical sciences or other healthcare professions such as dentistry, pharmacy, physical therapy and optometry.   • MBS students share faculty and facilities with students enrolled in the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) program.
  • The UIWSOM DO supplemental application fee is waived.
  • Faculty committee letter for those with a minimum 3.4 GPA after the fall term.
  • Guaranteed Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) for the DO program.
    • Mock interviewing training is also provided.
  • Small classes ensure consistent faculty interaction.

The MBS admissions committee recommends a minimum MCAT score of 500 to be competitive with the general pool of DO candidates. Over the last three years, approximately 60 percent of MBS graduates applying to the DO program were admitted and matriculated.
