Master of Science in Sport Management
The Master of Science in Sport Management is a 30-hour program designed for people desiring a career with mission-driven sports organizations. These types of organizations place the participant above seeking a profit for an owner.
Students will learn the skills to form, market, fund, staff, connect and lead these organizations in purposeful ways.
Graduates are also prepared to advance sport-for-development-and-peace programs which utilize sport as a vehicle for enhancing community development, health education or many other positive outcomes.
Examples of mission-driven organizations include non-governmental sports organizations (San Antonio Sports, USA Football, USA Archery), international organizations (International Olympic Committee, Basketball Embassy, Sport and Peace), charitable institutions (Spurs Give), amateur sports organizations (Pop Warner, San Antonio Sport and Social Club), and university athletic departments (UIW Athletics).
As an NCAA Division 1 program, UIW teaches students the skills to form, market, fund and operate these types of sports divisions in meaningful ways.
