MSN in Nursing Leadership
The fully online Master of Science in Nursing Leadership program is now accepting applications via NursingCAS. The MSN in Nursing Leadership program at UIW is designed to prepare nurses for roles in advanced healthcare leadership. It provides administrative and management theory and skills to address organizational issues within complex healthcare systems and community-based agencies. The 31-credit hour curriculum consists of 10 courses with 320 clinical practicum hours and can be completed in 24 months.

- Complete clinical experiences with nurse leaders.
- Develop expertise in financial management, strategic planning and navigating a range of issues encountered in healthcare organizations.
- Classes are offered 100% online.
- Classes are scheduled so that students take no more than two courses at any time.
- There is a low student-to-faculty ratio with an average class size of 10 - 15 students.
- At UIW, each student is assigned a clinical coordinator to help with preceptorship placement. If you can’t find a preceptorship through your own networking, UIW will help locate a preceptor within a 60-mile radius who fits your license requirements. UIW partners with CHRISTUS, University Health System, Methodist Healthcare System and over 100 community agencies!

Master of Science in Nursing Leadership
The UIW Master of Science in Nursing Leadership track is designed to prepare students for roles in executive and advanced healthcare leadership.
UIW’s Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Master's Degree in Nursing, Doctor of Nursing Practice degree and the Post-Graduate APRN Certificate Program at the University of The Incarnate Word are accredited by The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education at 655 K Street, NW, Suite 750, Washington, DC 20001.
The Master of Science in Nursing Leadership Program starts a new cohort each fall semester. Applications are available every March for an August start date. Deadline to submit applications is early August.
Admissions Requirements
- A baccalaureate degree with a major in nursing from a nationally accredited program college/university with a minimum overall GPA of 2.5 and combined Nursing GPA of 3.0
- A current unencumbered license to practice nursing in the State of Texas or one of the compact states recognized by the State of Texas
- A course in basic statistics and a nursing course in basic physical assessment skills with a grade of "C" or better
- A minimum of one year of relevant experience in professional nursing is preferred
- Three satisfactory references (academic and/or professional)
- Official transcripts sent from each college/university attended (including hospital school of nursing, if applicable)
Upon admittance to the program, students must submit a confirmation fee, which serves as acceptance and ensures a seat in the Master of Science in Nursing Leadership program.
