The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in Management Information Systems (MIS) at the H-E-B School of Business and Administration prepares students with a deep understanding of business fundamentals, established and emerging technology, and soft skills, such as management and critical thinking.

The MIS degree at UIW offers a balance of theory and practice, enhancing the student’s educational experience and preparation for today’s continually changing workforce.
This degree opens the doors for numerous employment opportunities in various aspects of IT such as technical support, app development, web development, database administration, IT consulting, networking, data analytics and e-commerce. According to the Outlook Handbook at the Bureau of Labor Statistics, jobs in the MIS field will only continue to grow.
MIS Curriculum
The Bachelor of Business Administration in MIS is a 120-hour program utilizing new and emerging curriculum for app development, business intelligence and data analytics. Students have opportunities for internships with companies in San Antonio and the surrounding area and to learn from people currently working in the field of IT.
In addition to courses such as database management, e-business, project management and systems analysis, the updated curriculum now includes courses in iOS and Android app development, business intelligence and data analytics.
The MIS BBA concentration offers a rich curriculum that includes courses spanning the scope of the management profession. Some courses include:
MIS 3325: Introduction to Business Analytics and Business Intelligence
MIS 3362: System Analysis and Specification
MIS 3363: Design and Implementation of Database Systems
MIS 4363: E-Business Strategy, Architecture and Design
MIS 4310: iOS App Development and Management
MIS 3367: Intro to Networks and Telecommunications
MIS 4325: Predictive Analytics and Forecasting
MIS 4320: Android App Development and Management
Data Analytics Specialization
The MIS program offers a specialization in Data Analytics for students interested in becoming data scientists and/or researchers. The median staff salary for data scientists and big data professionals is $100,000 and rises to $130,000 for managers, according to the International Journal of Data Science.
The following courses are required for a Data Analytics Specialization:
