The Liza and Jack Lewis Center of the Americas, UIW Department of Political Science, and the World Affairs Council of San Antonio collaborated to host the final spring instance of the Conversations with Ambassador Creagan series, with a conversation titled "Strengthening Democratic Governance and Sustainable Development Across the Globe." The event took place on May 3rd at UIW's Seddon Recital Hall, and featured Congressman Joaquin Castro and Alice P. Albright, CEO of the Millennium Challenge Corporation.

The conversation was moderated by Dr. James Creagan, UIW’s Ambassador in Residence. Congressman Castro, as a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the Ranking Member of the Western Hemisphere Subcommittee, shared his insights on the evening’s topic. He was joined by Ms. Alice Albright, who leads the Millennium Challenge Corporation’s efforts to support nations committed to democratic governance, economic freedom, and investing in their people.

This particular instance of our Conversations with Ambassador Creagan Series was the first to be organized in collaboration with the World Affairs Council of San Antonio. They’ve become strong Lewis Center partners, given the alignment of their respective missions and their shared commitment to informing our communities about international affairs. The collaboration also served to expand the breadth of promotional outreach. The turn-out for the event, as expected, was the best we’ve had for the Conversations with Ambassador Creagan series. It was wonderful to see a packed house on a Friday evening, when there were numerous other competing events taking place in San Antonio.
