Carlos de León
Carlos de León was born in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, and raised in San Antonio, Texas. He currently teaches marketing and management at University of the Incarnate Word (UIW). De León brings to his industry experience in marketing, public affairs and economic development to the classroom. Presently, he leads the San Antonio office of Romph Pou, Louisiana’s largest full-service marketing agency representing clients in over 20 states. His client portfolio spans various industries, including public sector entities, oil and gas, healthcare, finance, higher education, tech and real estate development. De León’s career has also extended to public service, where he served as Director of Community Engagement for Bexar County Commissioner Tommy Calvert. Through his service with the University of the Incarnate Word’s Office of Research and Graduate Studies, he contributed to the University's recognition as a Bright Spot in Hispanic Education by the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics. Furthermore, De León currently serves on the Community Health Advisory Board for UT Health San Antonio’s Institute for Integration of Medicine and Science. Prior to embarking on his career in marketing, de León enriched his understanding of cross-border relations as part of the US-Mexico binational think-tank, Mexicans and Americans Thinking Together, Inc. This experience cultivated his passion for building bridges between cultures and promoting collaboration.
