Welcome to the Office of General Counsel at the University of the Incarnate Word.
The Office of General Counsel (“OGC”) manages and supervises all legal affairs affecting the University system and oversees the Office of Quality Assurance and Compliance. The General Counsel serves as the legal officer to the Board of Trustees and the University. Additionally, the OGC provides legal counsel to the President, Board of Trustees, faculty, and administration on a broad array of legal issues, and represents the University in all legal proceedings. The OGC reviews institutional contracts and agreements, provides advice and counsel to system stakeholders, monitors, reviews, and provides recommendations on policies and matters of legal compliance, including University handbooks. Moreover, the OGC hires and supervises outside counsel. The OGC strives to advance the Mission of the University by providing timely, sound legal advice and counsel on issues facing the University system.
