Chapter Directions, 2014

The 2014 General Chapter marked an Emmaus journey for the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, San Antonio.

As we walked together, the Holy Spirit’s action opened our eyes, allowing us to recognize Jesus in our midst! United in His presence, we more fully embraced our charisma and incarnational spirituality, recommitting ourselves to rekindle the vision of Bishop Claude Marie Dubuis in today’s reality.

We will create sacred spaces, opportunities for honest dialogue, in order to enhance the quality of our relationships, thus freeing us to strengthen our bonds of unity, respect our interculturality, and deepen communication and co-responsibility for our organic process.

Drawing strength from our deepened relationships and passion for mission, we choose to revitalize our vocation ministry and commit ourselves to initial and on-going formation for Sisters, Associates, Missionaries, and Collaborators, in order to promote our gifts in service of the mission,

Our Mission compels us to recommit ourselves to the poor and vulnerable, collaborating with individuals and organizations who share our values. We will assume the risk of a corporate and prophetic posture for justice, peace, and care for creation.
