Confirmation Fee

No, the confirmation fee is not refundable.

The confirmation fee cannot be waived, but we understand that families' financial needs vary, which is why we don't have a hard deadline to pay the confirmation fee. Please contact the Office of Admissions at admission@uiwtx.edu or (210) 829-6005 for assistance.

Since we have rolling admissions, we do not have a deadline to pay the fee. However, students will not be able to register for classes until they have paid the confirmation fee. Contact the Office of Admissions at admission@uiwtx.edu or (210) 829-6005 for assistance.

Advising Questionnaire and Class Registration

Incoming freshman students for summer or fall must complete an online questionnaire to assist with registration. The advising questionnaire is emailed to new students in May of each year. Students who have confirmed their attendance will receive the link to complete the advising questionnaire via email. If you confirm your attendance after May 1, the questionnaire will be emailed to you within two weeks of paying the confirmation fee.

Incoming Transfer students can contact the Office of Admissions to help with registration.

UIW accepts AP credits for tests with scores of 3 or higher. For a full list of AP courses accepted, click here.

A course that is normally considered part of a bachelor's degree program will be accepted in transfer. A course with a grade of less than D- will not be accepted in transfer.

Please contact the Office of Admissions at admission@uiwtx.edu or (210) 829-6005 for assistance.

Once you submit your advising questionnaire, the University Advising Office will begin working on your class schedule. You will receive your schedule 2 - 3 business days before your selected orientation date or after your questionnaire has been received.

New Student Orientation

Yes, attendance at new student orientation is required. If you cannot attend an in-person session, online sessions are also offered.

Orientation is an all-day event in which students meet with advisors to discuss their class schedules, meet with faculty to learn more about their chosen major and curriculum, and engage in fun activities to meet other new Cardinals. Students also have the opportunity to participate in activities that ensure they are ready for their first day of school. These activities include learning where their classes will be held, making sure their devices are connected to UIW internet, and learning what to bring for their first day of classes.

Orientation is offered both in-person and online.

Visit the Orientation Information page for instructions.

UIW Credentials

The UIW Help Desk will send you an email with your UIW login information and instructions on how to log into the GoUIW student portal 2-3 days after admission. Be sure to check your spam/junk folder for the email.

If you cannot find the email from UIW with your login information, please email the Helpdesk at helpdesk@uiwtx.edu or call the Helpdesk between 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday at 210-829-2721.

Your UIW email will be available in the GoUIW portal within 2-3 days after paying the confirmation fee.

Admission Documents

You may check your UIW application account for updates on missing items on your application. You may also contact the Office of Admissions.

To apply for admission, UIW accepts unofficial transcripts so final grades are not required. If you are admitted and choose to attend UIW, an official transcript listing your graduation date must be submitted before the start of classes.

UIW is test optional/test blind, meaning you may submit your SAT or ACT scores but they will not be considered for admissions or scholarship. These scores can be used to determine appropriate math placement. If you plan to submit test scores, an official report must be received from the testing center. You can request your score be sent to UIW by listing our code when you register for the exam. Our code for the SAT is 6303, and ACT is 4106. If you are unable to have your test scores mailed, you can export them from the College Board website in PDF format and email it to us at admissiondocs@uiwtx.edu

Documents can be submitted via email to admissiondocs@uiwtx.edu

Bacterial Meningitis Vaccination

You may submit your vaccination record in PDF format to registrar@uiwtx.edu. Be sure to include your PIDM (UIW ID) or date of birth.

Texas State Law mandates that all students under the age of 22 entering a Texas college or university provide proof of vaccination against bacterial meningitis. To be valid, you must have received the vaccine within the past five years. Note: You must have your meningitis shot on record to apply for on-campus housing and attend classes.

It is important that you visit your family doctor or local pharmacy to get your meningitis vaccination. Students will not be allowed to attend classes until proof of vaccination is submitted.

Math Placement: TSI / Accuplacer / ALEKS

The TSI is a test some students take in high school that is used by universities to determine math placement. UIW does not require the TSI, but if you have taken the exam, please submit the scores to UIW. Please contact your high school counselor for assistance.

ALEKS PPL will accurately measure your math foundation and will create a personalized learning module for you to review and refresh your math knowledge. This allows you to be placed correctly in the right course, expediting your path to complete your degree.

Students can complete the UIW Mathematics Placement through ALEKS Placement, Preparation and Learning (PPL).

If you took and passed a college level math class as dual credit, you do not need to take the ALEKS. Please contact the Office of Admissions to verify the college math class qualifies for dual credit.

You will need to contact the school where you took the test for a copy of your score. If you took the test in high school, contact your high school counselor.
