Charles Butt Scholarships
The University of the Incarnate Word's Teacher Education department is proud to be a Charles Butt Foundation partner program. Raising Texas Teacher partner teacher preparation programs demonstrate a commitment to high-quality programming and has established a strong foundation for continuous improvement with support from community partners, technical assistance providers, and the Charles Butt Foundation.
The Charles Butt Scholarship for Aspiring Teachers provides each scholar with $8,000 in scholarship funding annually, renewable for up to four years, as well as ongoing professional development support. This scholarship is available to UIW Education-Elementary majors.

Scholar Support
Selected Charles Butt scholars will receive financial and professional development support.
- Scholarship of up to $8,000 per year, renewable for up to four years
- Professional development opportunities facilitated by the Charles Butt Foundation
- Mentorship from a school leader who has participated in the Raising School Leaders initiative
- Networking with the statewide network of Charles Butt Scholars and Alumni
Application Timeline
The application period for the 2024 - 2025 academic year is closed. Applications for the 2025 - 2026 academic year will be accepted October 2024 - February 2025.
