5-Year Bachelor's to Master's Program
Enroll in Graduate Courses as an Undergraduate
Students at the H-E-B School of Business and Administration can follow the 5-Year Bachelor's to Master's program, earning both degrees while saving time and money on a graduate education.
About the Program
The 5-Year Bachelor's to Master's program is designed for undergraduate students who want to advance and complete a graduate degree at an accelerated rate. Students enroll in the Bachelor of Business Administration at the start of their freshman year, then during their senior year, if the student meets the graduate admissions criteria and is accepted, can begin enrollment in the Master of Business Administration or the Master of Science in Accounting.
Students in the program receive specialized advising throughout their course of study to ensure they remain on track to finish both degrees in five years. Students formally apply for admission to either the MBA or MSA programs at the start of their senior year. If accepted, students can enroll in graduate courses during the final two semesters of their undergraduate program.
Program benefits and details
By enrolling in graduate courses during the final semesters of their undergraduate degree, students in the 5-Year Bachelor's to Master's program benefit from:
- Banded tuition, which allows for graduate courses completed as an undergraduate senior to be charged at the same rate as undergraduate courses.
- Earning a master's degree in less than average time.
- Obtaining a competitive advantage by entering the workforce with an advanced business degree.
Program Guidelines
The 5-Year Bachelor's to Master's program is available to any undergraduate business student interested in completing a graduate business degree. Students must meet the following guidelines to participate in the program:
- Students must be on-track to complete their undergraduate degree with a GPA of 3.0 or above in order to enroll in graduate courses as a senior.
- Students must apply and be admitted into the MBA or MSA graduate program at UIW before they are eligible to enroll in graduate courses as an undergraduate student.
- Graduate course hours will not be counted toward an undergraduate degree.
- Students may not take more than six semester hours of courses for graduate credit while registered as an undergraduate senior.
- In order to qualify for banded tuition, students must be enrolled in at least 12 hours of undergraduate courses during the semester(s) in which they enroll in graduate courses. Students may choose to take all six banded tuition graduate hours during their final undergraduate semester, or they have the option to take three graduate hours during each of their final two undergraduate semesters. In either scenario, students must be enrolled in at least 12 hours of undergraduate courses during the semester(s) in which they choose to also enroll in graduate courses. Banded tuition does not apply if a student is not enrolled in at least 12 undergraduate hours in addition to any graduate hours taken during an undergraduate semester.
