Sr. Rosa Maria Icaza
Sister Rosa Maria Icaza, PhD, CCVI, Professor Emerita of Foreign Languages and Moody Professor
A native of Mexico City, Sister Rosa Maria achieved what Sister Clement Eagan always sought for Incarnate Word College a Phi Beta Kappa key. But not here. It was at the Catholic University of America. Her long career of teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Spanish were punctuated with study tours to Spain and Mexico, and the advanced courses she introduced.
Sister Rosa Maria was noted for her publications, teaching at the university level in Mexico City and innovative work with the Instituto Ibero Americana and the Mexican American Cultural Institute as professor and administrator from which she retired.
This is our heritage. Making a difference.
