Nursing Pinning Ceremony
The nursing faculty and administration of the Ila Faye Miller School of Nursing and Health Professions hold a pinning ceremony to honor their graduates. The pinning ceremony is a nursing tradition from the time of Florence Nightingale in the late 1800s that signified that the individual completed the requirements from the nursing education program. As part of the pinning ceremony, the graduates also recite a modernized Nightingale Pledge that is based on principles and ethics of the nursing profession.
Pinning Ceremony
Part of Welcome Week. Meet new and returning students and receive a special welcome from UIW administrators, faculty, and student leaders. The evening starts with a special pinning ceremony to commemorate your new chapter at UIW and a reception to immediately follow. We invite all new students and their parents or spouse to attend. Sponsored by Campus Life, Student Government Association, and University Mission & Ministry at the McDermott Convocation Center.
Pharmacy White Coat Ceremony
The Pharmacy White Coat Ceremony is held in celebration of first year pharmacy students who will receive their white coats and pledge themselves to serving others by reciting the Oath of a Pharmacist. The White Coat Ceremony marks their entrance into the John and Rita Feik School of Pharmacy.
Research Week
Since 2008, the Office of Research and Graduate studies, the Office of Research Development, and the Department of Instructional Technology have collaborated to provide a vibrant forum for University-wide research. The event welcomes submissions from both faculty and students and has grown annually, developing from a single day's event into a week-long celebration.
