UIW’s Light the Way Holiday Festival set for Saturday, Nov. 23
More lights, more food, more holiday fun at the University of the Incarnate Word
San Antonio (Nov. 21, 2019) – UIW’s annual celebration, Light the Way Holiday Festival, is set for Saturday, Nov. 23. The 2019 event, sponsored by H-E-B, will begin at 3 p.m., allowing guests more time to enjoy the holiday activities.
The earlier start time also means more time for lights! At 6:15 p.m., members of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, will flip the switch, illuminating the campus in twinkling lights. The Sisters are this year’s special guests in celebration of the 150th anniversary of their founding. UIW is proud to be a ministry of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word.
Guests can enjoy the lighting from wherever they are on the festival grounds. The University will also be collecting new, unused toys benefitting the Sisters’ charities. The evening will end with a fireworks finale at 9 p.m.
As always, admission is free. Limited parking is available on the UIW campus and at the AT&T lot across campus on Hildebrand for $10. Those seeking to park on campus may only enter through the gate at Hwy 281. All other gates will be closed to vehicle traffic. Overflow parking will be available at Incarnate Word High School, located at 727 E. Hildebrand. Guests may also choose to utilize rideshare apps such as Lyft and Uber. Those using rideshare apps can be dropped off at 4119 Broadway.
Attendees will enjoy live entertainment and a Kids’ Corner, where guests can take selfies with Santa, decorate a cookie with Bird Bakery, ride the kiddie train, take part in activities brought to us by our friends at The DoSeum, San Antonio Plastic Bricks and Andretti Indoor Karting & Games, and much more!
More than 50 vendors will be featured in our Holiday Shoppe giving guests a jump-start on their Christmas shopping. Local vendors will feature a variety of handmade crafts, special gifts and lots of fun products. Of course, guests won’t go hungry in the SA Food Truck Association Food Truck Yard, which will feature 15 food and dessert trucks.
UIW students, alumni and parents are also invited to an alumni exclusive event in the UIW Student Engagement Center. For more information, visit www.LighttheWaySA.com
