Sign of the Times Changes at 4119 Broadway
Old AT&T Building Gets New UIW Signage
San Antonio – The University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) put its first permanent mark on the iconic building located at 4119 Broadway on November 23, 2020. That is when the signage on the building changed from the old AT&T logo to the new UIW logo.
UIW purchased the eight story, 10-acre property at 4119 Broadway in the Summer of 2019. It was originally designed by renowned architect Atlee Ayers. The 350,000 square feet of office space, the adjacent parking garage and lot and the surrounding land will increase the UIW footprint at Broadway and Hildebrand by 15 percent.
The building has since been renamed Founders Hall in honor of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, the founders of the University. The building is already set to be the home of the Liza and Jack Lewis III Lewis Center of the Americas. The Institute has been established to promote better relations among the people and nations of the United States, Mexico, Canada, Central and South America through cooperative study, research, service and dialogue.
The University is currently advancing plans that will maximize utilization of the building and the land that surrounds it. Current plans situate a number of academic units on the property, along with UIW administrative offices, student housing and amenities, and retail that will best serve the needs of our community and activate an exciting new campus district.
