UIW Selects New Dean of Research and Graduate Support

After an extensive search, the University of the Incarnate Word is delighted to announce that Dr. Mark Nijland has been selected as the next dean of Research and Graduate Studies. 

Nijland joins UIW from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where he earned tenure as an associate professor in 2010 and continued his senior leadership as an assistant vice president for research.

His career includes extensive development of faculty research opportunities, partnering in the leadership of research facilities and processes, as well as award-winning research in neuroscience and animal physiology.

Nijland will assume his new role on Jan. 18. He will oversee UIW's units for graduate studies, research compliance, and the University's inaugural sponsored programs office.
