Dreeben Faculty Member, Students to be Published by Springer Publishing

Dr. Lisa Brown, assistant professor in Adult Education in the UIW Dreeben School of Education, along with Organizational Leadership and Evaluation Ph.D. candidates Pam McCray and Jeff Neal, recently presented at the Learning Ideas Conference held at Columbia University Teacher’s College. Their article, “Creating Affective Collaborative Adult Teams and Groups Guided by Spiral Dynamic Theory,” will be published as a book/eBook in the Springer Publishing series "Lecture Notes in Networks and Systems."

“As a scholar and practitioner, it is always humbling and exciting to have your work shared and distributed to a larger community of academics and professionals who find it valuable and insightful in their library of resources,” said Brown.

According to Brown, the conference was designed to allow participants from around the world to share innovations in learning and technology, helping improve practices for the workplace and higher education. The trio, led by Brown, who has a Ph.D. in Adult Education, Learning and Organizational Development, focused on adult learners in their study.

“We chose to talk about the emerging pedagogical approach for adult learners described as affective learning – being impacted by, influenced by, or produced by emotions, moods, feelings and attitudes – in online and in-person graduate education,” noted Brown.

The initial article was peer-reviewed prior to the conference. It scored a 9/10 and was accepted for the conference eBook and Springer Publishing. Following the conference, the UIW group was invited to expand upon the initial article for inclusion in The International Journal of Advanced Corporate Learning.

The books in the Springer Publishing series will be included in abstract and citation databases, such as SCOPUS, DBLP, EI Compendex, INSPEC, WTI Frankfurt eG, zbMATH, Japanese Science and Technology Agency (JST), and SCImago, and will also be submitted for consideration in Web of Science.
