UIW Welcomes Newest Students at 2022 Pinning Ceremony
Each year, new students beginning their journeys at the University of the Incarnate Word are invited to a special event called Pinning Ceremony. The ceremony commemorates the start of students’ college careers and officially welcomes them as part of the UIW family. The annual Pinning Ceremony is a symbol of a promise to themselves to strive for personal and academic success, with the support of their new university community.
This year’s ceremony was held Thursday, Aug. 18 in the Rosenberg Sky Room. After an exciting move-in day, new students and their families joined UIW President Dr. Thomas Evans, Red the Cardinal and more for the event.
At the ceremony, students received their first-year University pin to symbolize their connection to the UIW community and the beginning of their higher education academic journeys. The pin dons the University seal, a mark also worn on class rings as students near the end of their time at UIW.
