UIW’s Dr. Monica Ayala Jimenez Selected for National Leadership Academy
San Antonio – September 20, 2023 – The University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) is proud to announce that Associate Provost of Student Success, Dr. Monica Ayala Jimenez, has been selected to be a part of the very first Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU); Enlace Mid-Level Leadership Program. Only fifty-six professionals nationwide were selected to be a part of the program which begins this Fall.
The six-month leadership development program for mid-level college and university professionals is designed to increase the number, variety and quality of Latino/a talent in leadership positions at Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSI) and in higher education overall. The University of the Incarnate Word is a proud HSI.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to engage in learning from a powerhouse organization like HACU,” says Ayala Jimenez. “I’m especially looking forward to attending the Capitol Forum in Washington, D.C. where I can enhance my skills as an advocate for HSI work here at UIW. As a Latina, I recognize that my voice matters and I represent others whose voice is not at the table.”
Selectees in the Enlace Mid-Level Leadership Program will participate in programming covering academic and student affairs management, regional institutional accreditation, diversity, equity and inclusion, and higher education advocacy issues. Participants will also interact with a professional search firm.
HACU, founded in 1986, represents more than 500 colleges and universities in the United States, Latin America, Spain and school districts throughout the U.S. HACU is the only national association representing existing and emerging Hispanic-Serving Institutions. The Association’s headquarters are in San Antonio with regional offices in Washington, D.C. and Sacramento, California.
