St. Anthony Catholic High School Welcomes New Principal
Patricia Ramirez Brings nearly Three Decades In Catholic Education
San Antonio – February 2, 2024 – The St. Anthony Catholic High School Board of Directors, under the leadership of Board Chair Thomas M. Evans, PhD, president of the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW), is proud to announce the selection of Mrs. Patricia Ramirez to the position of principal at St. Anthony Catholic High School. In addition, the board announced that Ramirez will work under the direction of Marcos Fragoso, UIW vice president for International Affairs, who will oversee operation of the high school and UIW’s Brainpower Connection.
“I would like to thank Mrs. Patricia Ramirez for accepting the position,” says Fragoso. “I feel gratitude for the past, for Dr. Kristina Vidaurri’s achievements at St. Anthony, and I feel excitement for the future. I’m confident that under Mrs. Ramirez’s leadership St. Anthony will continue offering a great education and will thrive.”
Ramirez brings with her almost three decades of experience in Catholic education as a teacher, principal and most recently as the director of UIW’s Brainpower Connection programs. In this role, she oversees the association and collaboration of the Brainpower schools including UIW, Incarnate Word High School, St. Anthony Catholic High School, Blessed Sacrament Catholic School, St. Mary Magdalen School and St. Anthony Catholic School.
Indeed, it was at St. Anthony Catholic School, known affectionately as “Little St. Anthony,” that Ramirez spent 25 years where she rose from teacher to principal. Among her many accomplishments there, Ramirez expanded the elective and enrichment offerings of the school including leading the initiative to develop a Spanish immersion program. Ramirez has served on various educational committees to further the mission of Catholic education, including the Principal’s Advisory Council with the Archdiocese of San Antonio.
“I am honored for the opportunity to join St. Anthony Catholic High School and be a part of its rich tradition of offering a college preparatory education in partnership with the University of the Incarnate Word,” says Ramirez. “I firmly believe in the transformational impact Catholic schools make on our young men and women. I am excited to build on the school’s strengths to ensure that we provide an excellent education, in the strong, faith-based tradition that St. Anthony Catholic High School has long been known for.”
