UIWSPS's Dr. Jessica Parra to Serve on the Board of Texas Women in Higher Education

The University of the Incarnate Word School of Professional Studies (UIWSPS) is proud to announce that Dr. Jessica Parra, assistant dean of UIWSPS, has been selected to serve on the esteemed board of directors of the Texas Women in Higher Education (TWHE).

The board of TWHE is dedicated to developing, advancing and supporting women employed at colleges and universities across the state of Texas. Unlike organizations focused on one area of responsibility, TWHE serves women in all sectors of higher education – public and private, university and community college – working in all areas of their institutions.

Parra is not only the Assistant Dean of the School of Professional Studies, she is also an adjunct professor in the SPS Business and Organizational Leadership program. “The mentorship and leadership TWHE provide for those in a higher education field, specifically for women, is inspiring,” said Parra. “There are significant challenges in the career path of higher education, but with the mentorship being provided through TWHE, I found similarities and encouragement. I am honored to join this amazing team in providing support to the members of TWHE and the board of directors.”

TWHE works to provide professional development, networking and advocacy for women holding or aspiring to leadership positions in higher education. It empowers women to take advantage of opportunities for advancement and professional growth and it promotes women’s involvement in local, state and national leadership development opportunities.
