St. Anthony Catholic High School and Incarnate Word High School Students Set Forth on a New Journey

San Antonio– May 31, 2024 – The University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) was proud to host the commencement ceremonies for St. Anthony Catholic High School and Incarnate Word High School. The two separate events, where more than 150 graduates crossed the stage, were both held on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at the Alice P. McDermott Convocation Center located on the UIW Broadway Campus.

St. Anthony Catholic High School (SACHS) started the day with hundreds of family and friends celebrating the graduation of 70 students who earned nearly $10 million in scholarship funds. SACHS is proud to announce that 100% of its graduates are headed to institutes of higher learning including universities such as Baylor University, Oregon State University, the University of the Incarnate Word and many more.

“I am immensely proud of the accomplishments of the Class of 2024,” says SACHS Principal Patricia Ramirez. “Their level of student involvement in athletics, student organizations and service is impressive. They are not only academically ready for the challenges of higher education, but they are ready to make a difference in their communities, living a life of faith and service.”

Later that afternoon, a crowded McDermott Convocation Center welcomed the graduating Class of 2024 from Incarnate Word High School (IWHS). That class featured 85 graduates who earned $13.2 million dollars in scholarships. They will also see 100% of their graduates go on to pursue their higher education dreams at institutions such as the University of Notre Dame, the United States Air Force Academy, the University of the Incarnate Word and more.

“On behalf of the faculty, staff and the Shamrock community, I would like to formally congratulate the Class of 2024 on their graduation from Incarnate Word High School,” says IWHS Principal Anne Schaefer-Salinas. “The Class of 2024 is one that we are especially proud of. They began their high school career during an unprecedented time where they learned to form connections with each other through a screen. Yet, they continued to form lifetime bonds, excelled in and out of the classroom, and fully embraced our core values of a community of faith, integrity, stewardship, compassion and academic excellence. This group of young women leaders not only worked hard to achieve academically, but they were truly dedicated to upholding the traditions and legacy of the Sisterhood. Congratulations Class of 2024!”

St. Anthony Catholic High School and Incarnate Word High School are members of the UIW Brainpower Connection, a shared vision of faith and learning. The Brainpower Connection is a circle of support, influence and collegiality established in connection with six different institutions, their faculties and students, to share their brainpower. A shared vision, shared faculties and shared facilities help break down the walls that traditionally separate elementary, high schools and universities.
