UIW Names New Chief Information Officer

Nationwide Search Leads to New CIO and Vice President of Innovation and Technology

San Antonio – February 14, 2025 – The University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) is honored to announce that Ben Rueger has been named the University’s new Chief Information Officer and Vice President of Innovation and Technology. Rueger comes to UIW from the Purdue University system.

In his previous position, Rueger led a digital transformation, drove AI initiatives and policy, and revamped the student experience. In doing so, Rueger built collaborative practices working closely with faculty members and technology teams to ensure successful and clear change management.

Evans, UIW president. “I am grateful to the CIO Search Committee who vetted multiple outstanding candidates and worked to identify the perfect fit for UIW. Among the many positive attributes that drew us to Ben were his enthusiasm for our Mission and his eagerness to contribute to its fulfilment. He also stood out for his previous success fostering a positive work culture and strong relationships, resulting in improved performance.”

Rueger will begin his new role on March 3, 2025.
