Behavioral vendorBehavioral Health Services

UIW Behavioral Health Services provides behavioral and mental health services that foster personal, interpersonal, and academic thriving for UIW students. They provide students with accessible and diverse mental health services to promote overall wellness and help them make the most of their experience at UIW.

Individual therapy, couples therapy, group therapy, mediation and behavior management coaching, and informal assessments are services available to UIW students. Service is provided to students free of charge and can be done either face to face, phone or via Microsoft Teams.

Career ServicesCareer Services

The Office of Career Services works with students on career readiness opportunities and skills development through career tools, counseling and events. The team is available for in-person appointments, drop-ins or assisting students virtually through Skype/TEAMS, email, chat or by phone. Make an appointment with the staff via Handshake or by calling our office.

Services offered by Career Services include resume review, cover letter review, mock interviews, career assessment, online job database, career counseling, job fairs and professional development. Students can also use our Cardinal Closet if they need professional business attire free of charge.

Ettling CenterEttling Center for Civic Leadership and Sustainability (ECCL)

The Ettling Center for Civic Leadership serves as the University of Incarnate Word’s central resource for those interested in volunteerism and obtaining the required 45 community service hours necessary for graduation.

ECCL strives and is inspired to be a national model for civic engagement and student leadership through programs and partnerships with other campus departments and student organizations as well as local/national community-based organizations serving South Texas and the Greater San Antonio community.

The Cardinals' Cupboard Food Pantry is available to support our campus and the local community. The Pantry is open to UIW students, faculty, staff and community members to access non-perishable foods, basic hygiene products and other basic needs on the Broadway campus, located at Joeris Residence Hall near the intersection of Highway 281 and Hildebrand (please contact the Ettling Center for the specific location of the pantry).

Health CenterHealth Services Clinic

The UIW Health Services Clinic offers medical services to students, faculty and staff at the University of the Incarnate Word and St. Anthony Catholic High School. They provide a broad range of services by experienced medical providers to help you assess your healthcare needs and develop a treatment plan that’s right for you.

Available services include dental services, immunizations, influenza (Flu) shots, lab work, meningitis information, physical therapy, primary care and annual screenings, psychiatric services, COVID-19 testing and vaccinations, school and sports physicals, smoking cessation, and well-women exams.

Military CenterMilitary and Veteran Center (MVC)

The University of the Incarnate Word Military and Veteran Center welcomes and supports all service members, and their families, who are serving and who have served to protect the rights and freedoms of our country. The MVC assists students using educational benefits under the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), educational assistance programs and Department of Defense Tuition Assistance in the pursuit of their educational goals.

New StudentNew Student Programs (NSP)

The Office of New Student Programs provides resources and engagement opportunities which facilitate the college transition process for new students to the UIW community. We foster a safe learning environment that creates a sense of belonging for new students which empowers them during their educational journey.

With a focus on the values of student support, engagement, community and communication, NSP works to prepare our new students for success as they navigate their first year of college. NSP also offers a New Student Peer Mentoring to help with personal development.

The Office of Title IX is committed to establishing a safe and supportive work, educational, and living environments for all members of the University of the Incarnate Word community, free from discrimination on the basis of sex, by providing education, resources, support services and adjudication related to Title IX policies, laws and regulations.

Any student who may be a victim of sexual assault, sexual harassment, sexual exploitation, stalking or relationship violence (dating and domestic violence) can contact the Office of Title for assistance. They can also provide a list of local resources for any students needing outside support.

Student AdvocacyStudent Advocacy and Accountability (OSAA)

Through outreach, education, collaboration and the administration of the conduct process, the Office of Student Advocacy and Accountability supports a safe, fair and supportive learning environment for the personal, professional and ethical development of all students.

OSAA can also provide information on local resources to students to support their needs both personally and academically.

Student AdvocacyStudent Success/Academic Support

Students needing assistance to support their academic pursuits can use several campus resources for coursework, academic advising, selection of a major, study assistance and other resources.

Student Success has the following departments to serve and support students’ academic needs: University Advising Center, Student Testing, TRIO, Tutoring Services, UIW First Generation, Writing and Learning Center and Student Disability Services.

Campus PoliceUniversity Police (UIW PD)

The UIW Police Department is a multi-service organization. The role of the UIW PD is to provide effective support, public assistance at every opportunity and a safe environment through safety awareness and law enforcement. The UIW Police Department responds to the changing needs and expectations of the campus community with an emphasis on sensitivity and understanding while providing service to the University. The State of Texas recognizes the University of the Incarnate Word Police Department as a police agency. Police officers are on duty 24/7, to ensure the safety of the University community and enforce the laws of Texas and the regulations of the University.
