Virtual Study Abroad Programs
The University of the Incarnate Word’s Sister Schools host Virtual Study Abroad Programs (VSAP) for students attending UIW' San Antonio and Mexico campuses. Students may enroll in an VSAP for three to 18 credit hours per term. Students may not exceed 18 credit hours of VSAP credits overall.
Much like in study abroad, students in VSAP courses engage with their peers in a dynamic international context. Doing so promotes curiosity and deepens our understanding of the differences and commonalities that color our world.
UIW Study Abroad's VSAP holds promise for our campus, because there’s an advantage to exchange between partners with different cultures, historical backgrounds, political understandings, and different economic and linguistic backgrounds. International learning opportunities are critical to the internationalization of our campus, and for many students who are not able to travel abroad, online international learning provides engagement with foreign cultures.
Goals
- Internationalization of the curriculum
- Classroom diversification
- Provide affordable study abroad opportunities
- Inclusion of study abroad in all UIW degree plans
- Strengthen Sister School Partnerships by continuing to provide mutually beneficial academic programs of rigor to UIW students
