Service Description: Gardopia sprouted in 2015 to address health disparities in a high-crime corridor on the near-Eastside of San Antonio. Initially funded by the San Antonio Housing Authority (SAHA), Gardopia implemented crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED) as a methodology to reduce crime around an abandoned lot. Working with SAHA, this became the Eastside's first "gardopia," or garden utopia, where neighbors grow their own food and transform their community.

Service Description: American Gateways is the only nonprofit in the state to provide legal orientation, immigration workshops and pro bono legal representation at four immigrant detention facilities. Our Austin office serves the T. Don Hutto Residential Center in Taylor, Texas. Our San Antonio office serves the South Texas Detention Complex in Pearsall, Texas, the Karnes County Residential Center for families in Karnes City, Texas and the South Texas Family Residential Center in Dilley, Texas.

American Gateways is also one of the largest immigration legal services providers in Texas. Our clients receive culturally sensitive, trauma-informed legal representation from start to finish of a case. Service Description: Today, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of the Archdiocese of San Antonio involves over 2,000 dedicated Vincentian members and other committed SVDP volunteers who serve children, families and individuals in need. Through our 68 conferences that are located in or near Catholic parishes throughout the community, Vincentians identify need and provide a wide variety of services for basic needs such as food, clothing, rent, furniture, prescription medicine and utility assistance. Person-to-person assistance is at the core of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Vincentians also visit the homes of those they assist. Through the home visit, Vincentians determine how to best help the individual or family in crisis. The home visit is a trademark of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. In addition, our San Antonio SVDP Central Office staff provides more than 400,000 meals annually to the homeless and offers food service job training at St Vinny's Bistro® at the Haven for Hope homeless campus. Our small staff is responsible for direct services to those most in need as well as overseeing and supporting the 68 conference sites.
