Marketing student wins $15K scholarship from Texas Business Hall of Fame
Frank Rivera II among 35 Texas students honored
SAN ANTONIO – UIW marketing major and senior Frank Rivera II is one of 35 Texas students awarded a $15,000 scholarship from the Texas Business Hall of Fame Foundation in 2017.
Rivera and the other recipients will receive their awards during a luncheon ceremony on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017, in Dallas. They will also be recognized later that evening at the foundation's 35th Annual Induction Dinner.
The Texas Business Hall of Fame Foundation is a nonprofit that recognizes the accomplishments of business leaders in the state and encourages the entrepreneurial spirit in the leaders of tomorrow through its generous scholarship program.
Rivera embodies the entrepreneurial spirit by operating a startup video production company with his father. He plans to continue to grow the company after graduating in May 2018.
The scholarship application process is grueling. Rivera and other UIW applicants submitted written applications for consideration to the Dean of the H-E-B School of Business and Administration, Dr. Forrest Aven. The field was narrowed to three students who interviewed with representatives from the Texas Business Hall of Fame. Rivera was chosen as the 2017 H-E-B Scholarship winner.
He advises other students to be true to themselves when applying for scholarships.
"View the process as a time to reflect on your life. The scholarship helped me see a clearer vision for myself," Rivera said. "Make your application personal. For my application, I wanted anyone who read it to have an insight to my mindset as an entrepreneur."
The H-E-B School of Business and Administration congratulates Frank Rivera II on this accomplishment.
