Senior Clinical Instructor Faculty
Dr. Joyce Zhang is a senior clinical instructor and licensed therapeutic optometrist at the Rosenberg School of Optometry. Dr. Zhang was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii and since high school, has always dreamed of becoming an optometrist. After graduating from Boston University with a degree in Biology and Economics, she attended and completed her optometry degree at the University of California Berkeley School of Optometry. During optometry school, Dr. Zhang was heavily involved in helping the community by volunteering at local vision screenings and being involved in leadership roles such as being a school ambassador. She discovered her passion for low vision with the help of her low vision mentors at Berkeley and was fortunate to complete a low vision rehabilitation residency at RSO. Through residency, she discovered her interest in teaching and decided to stay at RSO to encourage more young optometrists to consider practicing low vision. She is passionate about increasing awareness about visual impairments and advocating for low vision rehabilitation. Dr. Zhang enjoys spending time with her family and friends, watching movies, cooking for others, working out, and discovering new music and amazing food.
