He earned his Ph.D. in Criminal Justice with a specialization in Criminology from Sam Houston State University. He earned a master’s degree in Criminal Justice from Texas State University and a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with a specialization in Law Enforcement and Police Science from Sam Houston State University. His areas of expertise in include criminology, deviant behavior, penology, and organizational theory. Dr. Guerrero’s research interests focus primarily on incarcerated populations, juvenile populations, environmental crimes, wildlife crimes, and deviant behavior. His research has led to several publications in the areas of criminology, penology, and juvenile justice. As a practitioner, Dr. Guerrero has over 20 years of field experience working with several criminal justice agencies in various supervisory capacities.
